Moss Stitch Hat Pattern

Yarn: Worsted weight acrylic (I used Caron Simply Soft)

Gauge: 4 stitches per inches in moss (K1, P1, K1, P1)

Needles: Size 6 needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)

Cast on 81 stitches.
Join round, being careful not to twist stitches

Moss stitch:
Row 1: [K1, P1] 40 times, K1
Row 2: [P1, K1] 40 times, P1

Repeat rows 1 & 2 until piece measures 7 inches

Decrease row 1: Knit in moss stitch until 2 stitches remain, K2tog
Decrease row 2: [Knit 8 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 3: [Knit 7 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 4: [Knit 6 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 5: [Knit 5 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 6: [Knit 4 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 7: [Knit 3 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 8: [Knit 2 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 9: [Knit 1 stitches in moss stitch, K2tog] 8 times
Decrease row 10: [K2tog] 8 times

Finishing:
Cut yarn, leaving a 3 inch tail
Using yarn needle, loop yarn through existing stitches
Pull stitches off of needles
Pull yarn tight to close hole
Weave in ends
